The overall victory at the Davey Dodds Memorial Trophy in Newcastle fell to Luke Humphries on Thursday night. The former world champion won over Jonny Clayton in the final.
In addition to Clayton and Humphries, Adrian Lewis and Stephen Bunting were also present at the demonstration tournament in the English city. Humphries won 4-1 over Lewis in his semi final, while Clayton got the better odf Bunting 4-3 in a leg-decider. Humphries was then too strong for Clayton in the final, winning 4-3.
Many top players play demonstrations during this period. Not in the first place for a nice extra pocket money, but also to keep up match rhythm in the run-up to the PDC World Darts Championship. At these demonstrations, they often play friendly matches against other top darters, where there is also room for a meet & greet with the fans.
