Luke Humphries has revealed that and James Wade have kissed and made up following the recent 'Lickgate' controversy. The world number one was previously upset after Wade threw him out of the UK Open, appearing to lick his neck in the process.
Still, according to Humphries, there is no more resentment. “Yes. I think, you know, things happened in the game. Obviously, not the lick on the neck like everyone thought it was," says the world number one in quotes collected by Oche180. “But there’s water under the bridge now. You see each other the next week and we’re fine."
According to Humphries, incidents like this are more common, and that does not cause such a conflict to fester for weeks. “These things happen in darts. We’ve seen it many, many times over the years where two players have had a disagreement and they’re friends again. So, yeah, we’re fine now.”
Humphries' recent nine darter as the Premier League Darts visited Brighton was also discussed. This earned him a special prize; a set of gold darts worth a whopping £30,000. He won this exclusive set, which was made available by tournament sponsor BetMGM.
Still, Humphries does not yet have the arrows in his hands. “I think they’re maybe being given to me next week or the week after. But I don’t know what they look like or anything. A lot of the players actually didn’t know anything about it," he explains. “I was the only one that knew about it because in Belfast, that was the first time I learnt about it as well. I don’t know too much about it. I don’t know what they look like, but I think they’re being made now and being delivered to me at one of the Premier Leagues in the next couple of weeks.”
