Sunday evening could yet see a third major ranking title in just over a month for Luke Humphries and he could yet face Michael van Gerwen in a showpiece final at the Players Championship Finals in Minehead.

Humphries saw off James Wade in a 10-7 win to continue his superb run of form and now takes on the winner of Damon Heta and Ryan Joyce for a spot in the final later this evening. He has already won the World Grand Prix and Grand Slam of Darts since October and is the favourite to scoop the World Darts Championship next month.

His start was that of a champion as he hit back-to-back 180's, a 109 and double 16 to seal the opening leg in 10 darts. Wade though kept on his trail and sat 3-2 down at the opening interval albeit averaging the 11 points less than his opponent. A trademark of 'The Machine'.

He continued to close the gap meaning a biting point was needed. He was the one who got said biting point. In going 7-6 up after the interval after levelling it up from 6-4 down, he led for the first time.

But Humphries returned after Wade squandered six darts at a double to go 8-7 up which proved to be the end as he surged to the finishing line from there including hitting a sixth 180 and double 18 for a 10-darter in the penultimate leg.

Earlier on in the afternoon, Van Gerwen set up the first semi-final with Gabriel Clemens aiming to reach his maiden major final aiming to be the spoiler. As will Heta and Joyce who are next up for a spot in the semi-finals and the last one at that in Minehead.
