Relentless Ryan Joyce moves into maiden major ranking semi-final after denying Damon Heta in Minehead

Ryan Joyce is into his maiden major semi-final as the Geordie thrower has broken new ground at the Players Championship Finals, as Damon Heta again has fallen short in the Quarter-Finals in a 10-6 win for Joyce.

Now it will be the two players seen as the best in the world, with two spoilers aiming to make it another new major winner. Clemens will face Michael van Gerwen in the opening semi-final, while for Luke Humphries, Joyce now awaits.

Will it be the dream final of Humphries v MVG, or will the other semi-final duo have other ideas? All to play for on Sunday evening in Minehead.

Joyce was superb early on in the contest going 2-0 up with a 100 checkout and he made it four legs without reply. Only to miss two darts at doubles in the fifth and Heta got off the mark and gained the impetus at 4-1 down.

He sealed back to back legs with an 81 on the bull at 4-3. But was made to rue missed chances as Joyce restored a two-leg advantage at 6-4 up. Heta came back and hit a 127 checkout to break throw and go 6-5 up. But Joyce hit a 100 checkout to make it 7-6.

He romped to victory from there taking three legs on the spin to book his place in the final as Heta is once again set to lament what could've been on another good weekend on the big stage without the semi-final reward.
