The seventeenth edition of the Dazzler exhibition tournament was a triumph for Luke Humphries. 'Cool Hand' defeated, among others, two former Lakeside champions on his way to the title in Leeds.
In addition to Bunting, Mark Webster, Devon Petersen, Adrian Lewis, Stephen Bunting, Ricky Evans and Joe Cullen were also in attendance. Completing the lineup was talented player Jacob Gwynne, who was active on the Challenge Tour in 2024.
Gwynne faced Humphries in the quarterfinals, and managed to take two legs off the world number one. The win went to Humphries 4-2. Webster beat Petersen 4-2, while Bunting beat Lewis 4-1 thanks to an average of 104.15. Evans became the last semifinalist after a 4-2 win over Cullen.
Humphries then won 4-1 against former Lakeside champion Webster in the semifinals, while Bunting took the win against Evans. In the final, Humphries won 4-3 over Bunting.
Many world top players play exhibitions during this period. Not primarily for a nice extra pocket money, but also to keep up match rhythm ahead of the PDC World Championship.
