Luke Humphries conspicuously correctly predicted his opponent in the quarterfinals of the UK Open. This happened after a chaotic draw in the previous round, which led to calls for a re-draw.
The world number one defeated Beau Greaves in a tough match on Friday night and then eliminated Ryan Searle convincingly with a 10-0 victory in the fifth round. He again had little trouble in the eighth finals, winning 10-2 over
Ryan Joyce.
After this victory, Humphries spoke with UK Open sponsor Ladbrokes about his possible next opponent. During this interview, he revealed that he had correctly guessed all of his opponents up to that point. Moreover, he was convinced that
James Wade would be his next opponent - a prediction that came true later that evening.
The 2024 world champion showed off his remarkable sixth sense. "It'll probably be James Wade, because I know I always get the same player all the time [in the UK Open].

Half an hour after his interview, the draw was conducted, and indeed: Humphries was paired with Wade. Fans reacted astonished on social media. One joked, “@lukeh180 lottery numbers for next week mate?” And a second questioning: “'How did he call this before it happened?!?”
This striking prediction came after a controversial moment during the draw for the fifth round. When Humphries was paired with Searle, chaos ensued. Ned Boulting drew the ball number 23, belonging to Humphries, but instead of placing it on the stand, he put it back in the ball pit. This re-mixed the ball with the remaining balls.
Presenter John McDonald pointed out Boulting's mistake on ITV4, but Humphries' ball remained in the bowl with the other thirty balls. Remarkably, it was the very last ball remaining after the rest of the draw.
