We now know our semi-final lineup at the 2024 PDC
World Darts Championship.
Luke Humphries has completed the final four, dominating
Dave Chisnall 5-1 to setup a semi-final against Michael van Gerwen's conqueror, Scott Williams.
Starting much the better player, Luke Humphries raced through the first set. With Dave Chisnall offering little resistance, 'Cool Hand Luke' took the opener 3-1 averaging over 103, some 25 points more than his opponent.
Although Chisnall looked full of cold, his darts were starting to warm up in set 2 as he held throw in the opening leg. With both players exchanging holds of throw in the next three legs, the set went all the way to a deciding leg. Both kicked off leg 5 with maximums but it was Chisnall who had the advantage of throw and used that advantage to move back to level terms.
Humphries still looked the more comfortable of the two players though, despite 'Chizzy' pegging back in set 2. This proved dividends in the third set as the three-time major winner took the set to retake the lead at 2-1.
Chisnall continued to scrap, moving 2-0 up in set 4 but sadly for the Englishman, he couldn't finish the job, missing set darts as Humphries reeled off the next three legs in succession to move into a 3-1 advantage at the break.
With the quality reaching its peak, both players were throwing their best darts of the match in the fifth set. As it went all the way to a deciding leg, Chisnall was unable to pressure the Humphries throw in leg 5, 'Cool Hand Luke' taking it to move 4-1 up.
It seemed with the fifth set going against him, some of the fighting spirit had gone from Chisnall. Humphries continued on, averaging over 103 reeled off three straight legs on the sixth set to seal the win and a first World Darts Championships semi-final of his career.
