Luke Humphries ruthlessly whitewashes Ryan Searle 10-0(!) to reach UK Open last 16

Luke Humphries struggled at times against Beau Greaves in his last match but no such problems for the World No.1 against Ryan Searle as he breezed through in a 10-0 win to reach the Last 16 of the 2025 UK Open.
The match was seen perhaps as the tie of the session on the Main Stage between two fairly even matched players with Searle being perhaps one of the best players in particular on the ProTour.
He has also reached the final at the Players Championship Finals and hails from not far away but he will soon be heading home after the ruthless win from Humphries.

While it wasn't even Humphries at his best, he averaged 100 with five 180's and hit 10/19 (52.6%) on the doubles, it was characterized by Searle's poor doubling stats.
It was pretty comprehensive early on with Humphries racing into a 3-0 lead with an 85 finish but only after Searle continually missed darts at double. Humphries seized that early initiative to carry him through the whole match.
Searle couldn't get a shot at 112. He whittled it down to 56 but still couldn't win a leg as Humphries returned to make it 5-0. More missed darts at double as Humphries went 6-0 up on double four.
Searle barely stood a chance next leg as Humphries started to race to the finish. He hit an 81 checkout for a 12-darter for 7-0. Searle left it handily on 76 to break back but Humphries hit an 81 checkout for a clinical lead 8-0.
After missing a dart for 8-1, Humphries hit double four again for 9-0 before sealing the deal. Darting domination from Humphries as he heads into the hat for tonight's draw, Searle leaves pretty poorly out of the tournament.

- I agree. There needs to be a points system and preferably just a rolling one year. World Championship should earn the most points though it can be argued that the current qualification system does see a fair few players qualify from regional country qualifiers who would struggle to hold down a place on the Pro Tour. If prize money won is going to remain as the determining factor for ranking then the World Championship should just consist of the 128 Tour Card Holders. Another option would be to take the World Championship out of the rankings and have it as the stand alone pinnacle that you qualify for by winning certain tournaments or your ranking position, sort of like a GSOD+.Mysstree05-04-2025
