Luke Humphries is through to a maiden Quarter-Final at the 2023 World Grand Prix after surging past Luke Woodhouse in straight sets.
Albeit in a match that was closer than the scoreline suggested, with Woodhouse going 2-1 up in every set. But losing the next two legs to then lose the set.
This was evident in the opening set with Woodhouse missing two darts for the opening set and Humphries pinned double three in the deciding leg.
The second set also went all the way with Woodhouse going out the board and Humphries snatched it. Breaks were the matter of the day in the last set of the match.
Woodhouse went 2-1 up with a 74 checkout but missed 112 for the set and Humphries broke again. 'Woody' again got darts for the set and Humphries hit double three second dart up to move through. He now faces the winner of Peter Wright or Ryan Searle.
Woodhouse will look on it as a missed opportunity, but one that he can keep his head held high as he went so close to a maiden major Quarter-Final.
