Luke Littler apologises for promo with The Sun: "I didn't fully understand at the time what I was being asked to do"

English tabloid The Sun posted a photo of Luke Littler earlier this week showing 'The Nuke' holding The Sun's newspaper in one hand and a doner kebab in his other.

The publication did not go down well with mainly fans of Liverpool Football Club, who passionately hate The Sun because of the newspaper's coverage of the Hillsborough disaster in 1989, in which 97 Liverpool fans died.

"Today a photograph of me holding up a newspaper has been published in the media. The media attention I have been getting is very new to me and I didn't fully understand at the time what I was being asked to do," writes Littler on his social media. "In no way do I endorse that newspaper or the headline which accompanied the article and I sincerely apologise for any offence this has caused."

On Saturday night, the English prodigy will be back in action at the World Darts Championship. At the last sixteen, Littler will face Raymond van Barneveld. ''I'm focusing now on my next match with Barney and would like to thank everyone for their amazing support," he concludes.
