Darts sensation Luke Littler made a special appearance at Warrington Wolves' Super League clash against Catalan Dragons on Friday night. The stadium was temporarily renamed the "Luke Littler Stadium" for the occasion, as the 18-year-old took center stage during halftime, reflecting on his love for Manchester United and his deep connection with his hometown rugby club.

Littler, a well-known Manchester United fan, was put on the spot during a pitchside interview when asked whether he’d rather see United win the Premier League or Warrington Wolves lift the Super League title. After a brief moment of hesitation, he opted for his hometown team. “Ah, that’s so tough,” he said. “I’ve seen Sir Alex Ferguson ’s last league title, so I’d have to say Wire winning the league.”

His answer makes sense given the current state of both teams. Manchester United has endured a disastrous season under Rúben Amorim, sitting 15th in the Premier League with just four wins from 14 games ahead of their clash with Everton. In contrast, Warrington Wolves have made a flying start to their Super League campaign, securing back-to-back victories, including an 18-12 win over the Dragons.

For Littler, who grew up in Warrington, the night was even more special as he received a warm ovation from the home crowd. “It means a lot,” he explained. “For myself, what I've done over the past 12, 18 months. The support from the lads and all the staff and everyone at Warrington Wolves. Tonight's going to be a very special night."

Having spent years in the stands as a fan, Littler relished the chance to be recognized by the club he has supported since childhood. ''This is where I grew up: it's the local rugby team. I've been here for years, in the south stand, cheering the boys on next to the drum. To have the stadium named after me for one night only, it's going to be a big night."

Ahead of the game, Littler also spoke about the electric atmosphere in the stadium. ''It was just good to get out and be stood with all the crazy lot,” he said. “I wouldn’t say (it will feel better than Manchester United ), but it will probably be one of the biggest atmospheres.''

When asked what it would take for the stadium to be permanently named after him, Littler remained grounded. ''What do I need to do to make (my) stadium naming rights permanent? Good question - I don’t think it should ever happen, unless it does become a thing in a few years’ time (by winning more world titles). All teams have got sponsorship deals and obviously that’s why it’s named The Halliwell Jones now.”
