Luke Littler, Luke Humphries & Michael van Gerwen headline list of players automatically qualified for European Darts Open 2024

The PDC has announced the first 32 participants for the 2024 European Darts Open. The Euro Tour tournament in Leverkusen will be played from June 21 to 23.

Firstly, the top 16 in the world rankings will receive an invitation. This is followed by the next sixteen highest-ranked players on the Pro Tour rankings. However, the top-16 of the Pro Tour Order of Merit get protected status in the draw. They may enter the tournament from the second round.

Luke Humphries will head the seedings list at the European Darts Open. In addition, Dave Chisnall, Damon Heta, Gary Anderson, Rob Cross, Gerwyn Price, Danny Noppert, Michael van Gerwen, Josh Rock, Ross Smith, Ryan Searle, Stephen Bunting, Martin Schindler, Peter Wright, Chris Dobey and Ricardo Pietreczko have also secured seeded status for the eighth Euro Tour tournament of the season.

Gian van Veen, Michael Smith, Daryl Gurney, Jonny Clayton, Dirk van Duijvenbode, Ryan Joyce, Joe Cullen, Raymond van Barneveld, Krzysztof Ratajski, Andrew Gilding, James Wade, Luke Littler, Gabriel Clemens, Luke Woodhouse, Nathan Aspinall and Dimitri van den Bergh are also qualified for the European Darts Open, but must start the tournament from the first round.

Incidentally, for all the above players, they must win the first round in order for the prize money to also count toward the various rankings. In case of defeat, they will only get the prize money deposited into their bank account.

Sixteen starting spots are still available for the main tournament. Ten of those will be distributed during a qualifying tournament for Tour Card holders on Wednesday, May 8. There is also a Host Nation Qualifier where four starting spots are up for grabs and, in addition, there is an Eastern European qualifying tournament and a Nordic & Baltic Qualifier.
