The dream final that was wanted is upon us as Luke Littler will face Michael van Gerwen for the PDC World Darts Championship crown on Friday January 3 after a rampant rout from 'The Nuke' in seeing off fan favourite Stephen Bunting.

Littler was averaging 106 after four sets and would not let up against Bunting who like Chris Dobey before him fell with ease to the favourite in the tie and given both their respective displays, Van Gerwen v Littler could be one for the ages. He finished with a 105 average, 13 180's, three ton plus checkouts and 44.2% on the outer ring, a near complete performance.

Littler started off at his rampant best albeit Bunting was perhaps even better in losing the opener. He would've been scratching his head as he was hitting a 113 average compared to 106 from Littler and losing after both hit three 180's and started high quality.

But Littler only extended his advantage from there. He wrapped up the second set 3-1 with a 13-darter to double his lead with four 180's and a 101.4 average as it lowered from his previous foray but still hovered over the ton mark.

This only got better again though as he turned on the afterburners. Littler again was taken the distance in the next set but he held his nerve to move 3-0 clear with a 105.5 average, six 180's and a high checkout of 158 as Bunting was unable to find any answers and similar to the Dobey tie, it only got worse before it got better.

It was a continually professional job from Littler who took out 76 to wrap up the fourth set 3-1 and move closer to the final at 4-0 up. Bunting was needing answers and fast. He finally got them taking out a 13-darter to seal the next set 3-1 and get off the mark reducing the deficit.

But it was more deciding leg woe as Littler pinned 84 on the bull in the decider to go one away from the final at 5-1 up.

He romped towards the finishing line hitting a 170 checkout for 2-1 up and one away in the next set averaging 105. He left himself 40 from 126 with Bunting needing 156 to muster a decider. There it was from there as Littler produced a 13-darter for a heroic win.
