Luke Littler convincingly claimed the title last weekend at the exhibition tournament South Coast Showdown II in the south English city of Bournemouth.
Eight well-known darters were present at this demo night. Alongside Littler, Josh Rock,
Cristo Reyes, Damon Heta, Terry Jenkins, Scott Mitchell, Danny Noppert, and Alan Warriner-Little were also in action at the BIC Arena. Gerwyn Price was originally set to make an appearance, but “The Iceman” was forced to withdraw. Noppert was eventually flown in as his replacement.
The Dutchman ended up playing only one match in the tournament, as he lost 5-4 to Scott Mitchell in the quarterfinals. Another big name exited early as well with Damon Heta. “The Heat” had to concede 5-4 to Cristo Reyes.
Josh Rock swept multiple major finalist Terry Jenkins 5-0, while Alan Warriner-Little could not win a leg against Luke Littler. Reyes then defeated Mitchell in his semifinal, and Littler beat Rock 5-2. “The Nuke” saved his best for last. The two-time world champion won the final 6-2 against Reyes, and even produced a 150 checkout by hitting the bullseye three times.
