Luke Woodhouse easily qualified for the second round at the World Darts Championship at Alexandra Palace. 'The Shed' needed only three sets to send Lourence Ilagan back to the Philippines.

Ilagan is an experienced force at the World Championship. He was allowed to compete for the ninth time, but "The Gunner" does not have a best record in London. For the eighth time in nine editions, Ilagan did not make it past the first round. Scoring was underwhelming and on the doubles was not the best either. Woodhouse, on the other hand, played a solid match, averaging 94 with 45 percent on the doubles.

The first set was a 3-0 victory for Woodhouse, who recorded a 14-darter and a 13-darter. In the second set Ilgan missed an dart on double 10 to take the lead, after which Woodhouse immediately forced a break via double 8.

The Bewdley ace doubled the margin with a 14-darter and secured the set with a 115 finish after Ilagan missed three more doubles. An unadulterated whitewash did not come, as Ilagan threw a beautiful 103 finish in the second leg of the third set. Woodhouse then got to 2-1, before Ilagan forced a leg-decider in set three with a 15-darter. In the fifth leg, however, Ilagan could barely find the treble, after which Woodhouse decided the game with a 14-darter.

Woodhouse is due to make another appearance at the World Darts Championship in London on Tuesday afternoon. Then 'The Shed' will take on Mike de Decker, who had a bye in the opening round.
