The sixteenth tournament of the PDC Asian Tour was won by Man Lok Leung on Saturday. The darter from Hong Kong won his second title of the season by defeating the experienced Lourence Ilagan in the final.
Leung impressed at the World Darts Championship last December by impressively defeating Gian van Veen in the first round. The Asian is eager to return to Alexandra Palace this year, but having reached only one final in his first 15 Asian Tour tournaments, Leung needs to catch up.
This title temporarily moves Leung back into the top four on the Asian Tour Order of Merit, which is needed after 24 tournaments to force a spot for the World Darts Championship. He successively defeated Lok Yin Lee (4-3), Ryan Khristoffer Condat (4-3), Keita Ono (4-0) and Ryusei Azemoto (4-1) to qualify for the semifinals.
A meeting awaited in the semifinals with darts legend Paul Lim, who had defeated undisputed ranking leader Alexis Toylo 4-3 in the quarterfinals. Lim, however, had to beat Leung in the last four 5-4. The 25-year-old Leung then won 5-1 over Ilagan in the final.
