The PDC has announced that the third edition of the PDC Asian Championship will take place in the Philippines in mid-October. 48 players will compete there over four days for the coveted title. A cheque for $15,000 awaits the eventual winner, while the losing finalist will receive $7,000.
Organized for the first time in 2022, the inaugural PDC Asian Championship was won by the Filipino Christian Perez. Who has since gone on and claimed a PDC Tour Card. Last year, the final victory went to Japan's Haruki Muramatsu. Notably, both previous editions took place in Japan.
This year's edition will take place from Oct. 17-20 in Manila, with the biggest names in Asian darts competing in the Philippine capital. The top 16 on the Asian Tour Order of Merit are automatically qualified for this year's PDC Asian Championship. The rankings are currently led by Filipino Alexis Toylo, who recently competed with his compatriot Perez at the moet recent World Cup of Darts.
The 2022 runner-up, Paolo Nebrida, is also in attendance, along with Japan's Tomoya Goto, Hong Kong's Man Lok Leung and India's Nitin Kumar, while Singaporean darts legend Paul Lim is also among the seeded players.

In addition, several more qualifying tournaments will be held in the coming months, while areas without a national qualifying event will see their highest-ranked player on the PDC Asian Tour Order of Merit secure a spot in the event.
The 48 players will compete in a group stage of 16 groups of three on Saturday, Oct. 19, with the group winners advancing to the last 16, before the tournament concludes with the quarterfinals, semifinals and final on Sunday, Oct. 20. In the group stage and at the last 16 will be played to best-of-9 legs. The quarter-finals and semifinals are finished to best-of-11 legs and the final is played to best-of-13 legs.
