Night 14 saw Michael van Gerwen assure himself of a Premier League play-off return while Peter Wright continued his slim hopes of potentially making it to finals night.
Wayne Mardle and
Mark Webster to close out the Sky Sports broadcast spoke about Wright and Dimitri van den Bergh after their respective tie with both in different situations going into the final nights.
"Got to feel for Dimitri van den Bergh, he's averaged nigh on 107 lost to Peter (Wright), 104 and lost to Gary (Anderson) and 106 and lost to Michael (van Gerwen). It's timing, it's bad luck but the three darts he missed were all the bullseye. What Peter Wright did, only limiting Dimitri to eight darts at double in the whole match. Incredible from Peter, if only he had this form earlier in the piece, he would have been fine," said Mardle.
"Peter Wright's given himself an outside chance, I still think he's going to fall short courtesy of Jonny Clayton actually playing Dimitri on the last night. But he said he wanted to come here and win four games from four and Peter Wright's halfway to doing that," said Webster.
"The pressure's mounting on Dimitri van den Bergh, he's struggling to get resolve not struggling with performances. League darts is all about finding a way to win."
