With just one week of the regular season left in the
Premier League Darts there is still plenty to play for with both the final play-off spot and the top of the table still yet to be decided.
Wayne Mardle is one who has enjoyed this year's action.
"It's hard to fathom what keeps happening week after week," Mardle told Emma Paton on stage as part of Sky Sports Darts coverage of last night's action. "At one point Michael van Gerwen was more or less running away with it and we're joking about him getting caught because it was so simple for him."
Now though it's not so simple for the Dutchman and his hopes of topping the table are all but confirmed to be dead in the water. "Of those three, Michael van Gerwen, Michael Smith and Gerwyn Price is in the box seat let's get it right," Mardle analyses. "But the fact that three of them are in the mix is kind of unusual because normally by this time, whether it be this format or a previous format, someone has normally flown the nest by now."
"This is what I like about this format. There's something to play for until the very end," continues Hawaii 501. "Like Michael quite rightly said it's about winning and putting on a show. People are watching at home for entertainment. It's quality darting entertainment week in week out."
