Gerwyn Price had to don ear defenders last month at the PDC World Darts Championship due to the abuse he has received since the 2018 Grand Slam of Darts final in which he was fined for over celebrating against Gary Anderson.
Chris Mason spoke as per Daily Star and doesn't understand the dynamic of the Price vitriol saying that they get on his back but soon if they met him, they'd be asking for pictures and autographs and doesn't get why fans don't want to see the best of the best without the addition of the whistling.
“I think it [the ear-defenders] might have been a bit of a statement,” said Mason to
Daily Star. “There’s nothing wrong with having a bit of banter between throws but the whistling, screaming and some of the stuff they were actually saying was disgusting.
“How it’s tolerated, I don’t know. With his kids and his missus there, it’s embarrassing, it’s shocking.
“I don’t understand the dynamic of it. You’re paying good money to go and watch top-class sport, why wouldn’t you want to see to it played at its best?
“If they want to boo between throws and show their dislike to him, that’s up to them. But when he goes out into the fans’ village, he’s the first one they go up to ask for a picture and an autograph.”
