As expected, a few more withdrawals have come in for the
Baltic Sea Darts Open.
Michael van Gerwen has decided to skip the Euro Tour event in Kiel, but “Mighty Mike” is not the only global star to pull out.
Van Gerwen revealed on the Darts Draait Door podcast that he is going on holiday with his children this coming weekend. The three-time world champion felt his kids were ready for it. “Then I think you should make some time for that,” he explained.
Humphries, Clayton, Price and Rock also out
In addition to Van Gerwen, Luke Humphries, Jonny Clayton, Gerwyn Price, and Josh Rock have also withdrawn from the
eighth Euro Tour event of the year. The withdrawals of Humphries, Clayton, and Price do not come as a surprise. The trio will be in action on Thursday evening in the Premier League Darts play-offs. It is not clear why Rock is not taking part in the Baltic Sea Darts Open.
Luke Littler and Gary Anderson will also not be on show in Kiel this weekend. However, their names were already missing when the field was announced. The recent withdrawals are being replaced by the highest-ranked players who lost in the final round of the Tour Card qualifier. Rob Cross, Dimitri Van den Bergh, Richard Veenstra, Christian Kist, and Cristo Reyes are the players who benefit.
