Mathers crowned inaugural winner of Kyle Anderson Memorial Trophy due to Queensland Darts Masters run

At the start of the World Series triple header in Australia and New Zealand, trophies were unveiled in tribute to remember the late great Kyle Anderson, who sadly passed away last August including a Memorial Trophy which was won by Gordon Mathers.

Mathers was presented with the boomerang trophy during the final day of the New Zealand Darts Masters due to his run at the Queensland Darts Masters two weeks ago.

The PDC Tour Card holder was included in the local qualifiers for all the tournaments alongside Simon Whitlock and Damon Heta due to being on the ProTour but stood out.

After defeating Fallon Sherrock in the opening round, he saw off Michael Smith in the Quarter-Finals in a memorable run from 'GG' and Anderson's former manager and close friend, Mac Elkin who represents James Wade and Dimitri van den Bergh who were in the World Series line-up was on hand to present it.
