There is a good chance we are going to have a German debutant at the 2025 PDC World Darts Championship. Six of the eight players who qualified for the quarter-finals have never played at Alexandra Palace before.

On Thursday the last 16 of the PDC Europe Super League were played. Lukas Wenig, Max Hopp, René Eidams and Andree Welge were eliminated. Dragutin Horvat and Pascal Rupprecht made it to the last eight after defeating Steven Noster (6-1) and Daniel Klose (6-3). However, Horvat and Rupprecht will take on each other in the quarterfinals, leaving only one German with World Championship experience in the last four.

Paul Krohne recorded a 6-4 victory over Wenig, making Krohne the opponent of Leon Weber. The latter was 6-4 too strong for Arno Merk. Kai Gotthardt and Franz Roetzsch were responsible for the eliminations of Hopp (6-5) and Eidams (6-4), respectively.

In the final quarterfinals, Dominik Grüllich and Kevin Troppmann face each other. Grüllich advanced a round by beating Welge 6-4, while Troppmann settled with Liam Maendl-Lawrance after a decisive leg.

Friday sees the conclusion of the PDC Europe Super League, which will announce which German darter will be added to the field of participants for the World Darts Championship. Starting at 7 p.m local time are the quarterfinals, followed by the semifinals and final later in the evening.
