Max Hopp was one of eight final day winners at the first stage of the European Q-School in Kalkar on Wednesday. The German rounded off his campaign with victory against Martin Dragt 5-4.
Davy Proosten and Stefan Schroder ensured Dutch joy, courtesy of wins over Christian Goedl and Jeffrey de Graaf. However, De Graaf did qualify for the final stage via the Q-School Order of Merit. The same goes for Dragt and Dennie Olde Kalter, who went down in the final round against Hopp (5-4) and John Michael (5-3) respectively. Furthermore, Franz Roetzsch, Benjamin Drue Reus, Ryuta Arihara and Kai Gotthardt also managed to become day winners during the final day of the first stage.
During the first phase of the Q-School, no PDC Tour Cards are handed out yet. Players are trying to qualify for the final phase, which is scheduled from January 11 to 14. Players who lost their Tour Card after last season and the top eight players from the Challenge Tour and Development Tour in 2023 are directly admitted to the final stage.
Players could qualify for the final stage by reaching the last eight of a day's tournament during the first stage. Also, the top 83 of the European Q-School Order of Merit may compete in the final stage of the UK Q-School.
