McKinstry eases past Sherrock, McGeeney sees off Baker in brilliant deciding leg

One of the big casualties from the first round is Fallon Sherrock who was highly touted of course after her PDC World Championship run but she was defeated 6-1 by 'The Village Man' Kyle McKinstry up on the Main Stage who completed the win with a brilliant 128 checkout. He will be back to face Jason Heaver shortly.

Mark McGeeney is also through after defeating Scott Baker in a brilliant deciding leg which saw the former Lakeside finalist see off The Mod having gone six darts into a perfect leg before completing the feat.

Some news from the other boards is that Dirk van Duijvenbode who through his great form as of late has been seen as a player who could have a run couldn't have had a better start. He eased past Marko Kantele 6-0.

As well former finalist Andy Hamilton has made a successful return seeing off Patrick Lynskey in his first tie of the day but he then lost out to Niels Zonneveld in Round Two.

Scott Waites continued his winning form to begin the day with 'Scotty 2 Hotty' proving too good for Dutchman, Geert Nentjes 6-1.

Wesley Harms is also through having seen off Justin Smith as he emerges as a potential dark horse on the opening day.
