Mike de Decker posted a brilliant result at the
Belgian Darts Open on Saturday night by beating
Michael Smith in front of the Belgian's home crowd. It was 6-2 for 'The Real Deal' against the former world champion.
Decker quickly took the initiative against the world number three by breaking Smith twice in the first three legs. Smith then posted one rebreak by tallying 1-3 via a 15-darter.
A 76 finish brought Smith back to 2-3, but "Bullyboy" then missed a chance for the equalizer. De Decker made it 4-2 via double 2 and then threw out 112 for 5-2. Decker then managed to finish it off with a 14-darter.
Earlier in the evening,
Ryan Joyce had surprisingly reached the last sixteen at the expense of
Dave Chisnall in Wieze. After an exciting match, the victory went 6-5 to 'Relentless', who saw Chisnall miss one matchdart in the final leg.
