Michael van Gerwen will hunt for an unprecedented fourth consecutive weekly
Premier League Darts title this Thursday night in Exeter.
After Van Gerwen was eliminated in the first round of play in Cardiff, he won subsequent rounds of play in Berlin, Glasgow and Newcastle.
Last year, Van Gerwen and Michael Smith both won three weekly titles in a row. No one has managed a fourth consecutive weekly title yet. So 'Mighty Mike' will try to continue his run on Thursday night, starting with a clash against world champion Luke Humphries.
"I have a good run, but there's still a long way to go," stressed the reigning and seven-time Premier League champion. "I'm not going to set myself any goals. Last year I did and I didn't do myself any favors with that.''
Van Gerwen is determined not to become complacent this year. "I got too relaxed, so I have to make sure I do it differently this year. You have to make sure you learn from your mistakes, so I'm just going to look at it week to week. My game is there and my confidence is great. I want to fight, I want to perform and I want to show people what I can do,'' said the three-time world champion.
