Michael van Gerwen won his third consecutive weekly Premier League Darts title Thursday night in Newcastle. After four rounds of play, Van Gerwen has already collected more than twice as many points as the runner-up in the standings.
At one quarter of the league stage, Van Gerwen is already on 15 points. Behind the unapproachable Dutchman are Michael Smith and Luke Littler on seven points. Smith still keeps Littler below him because 'Bullyboy' already has a weekly title in his pocket. Smith won the first day of play in Cardiff.
Rob Cross completes the virtual top four with six points, while Luke Humphries and Gerwyn Price are on five points after four rounds of play and thus short of a top four listing.
Nathan Aspinall managed to pick up his first points in this Premier League on Thursday. 'The Asp' lost to Van Gerwen in the weekly final. Peter Wright is the only one still scoreless in the competition, which puts him in last place.
