Michael van Gerwen throws four consecutive averages below 95 for first time in 12 years

Michael van Gerwen has not been in top form of late. 'Mighty Mike,' who is struggling with a shoulder injury, has lost his last four matches.

He already suffered defeats in recent weeks against Luke Humphries (Premier League), Mensur Suljovic (UK Open), Rob Cross (Premier League) and Peter Wright (Belgian Darts Open).

In all these matches, Van Gerwen threw an average below 95 each time. According to statistics platform Darts Orakel, it is the first time in 12 years that the 34-year-old Dutchman recorded an average below 95 in four consecutive matches.

Next Thursday Van Gerwen awaits a chance to end this series. He is then expected in Nottingham for the seventh round of play in the Premier League Darts. Then 'Mighty Mike' will play in his first match against Luke Littler.
