Shortly before the start of the second block of the Players Championship season, there are further prominent withdrawals to report as players have pulled out of Players Championship Events 3 and 4, which will be played tomorrow, Monday and Tuesday.
A few days ago, the Professional Darts Corporation had already published the field along with the first absences. It was already clear then that Luke Littler, Michael van Gerwen, and Gary Anderson will miss the two tournaments. Joe Hunt, Martijn Dragt, and Jack Tweddell move into the Pro Tour lineup for this trio.

Schindler struggling at the start of the season

The PDC has now updated its absentee list again with Germany’s number one, Martin Schindler, and newly crowned Tour Card holder Matthias Ehlers will not compete in Wigan. Schindler’s withdrawal does not come as a complete surprise. At the season opener of the Players Championship Tour last week, he sparked plenty of discussion when he lost his first match 0-6 with an average of just 66 points.
On day two, however, “The Wall” had a clear uptick in form, a run to the second round, and averages between 91 and 95 points. The current withdrawal could nevertheless indicate that Schindler is working intensively on his game right now.
In addition to the two Germans, Ryan Searle and Dutchman Christian Kist also pulled out. Kist is forced to take recurring breaks due to a gout condition.
The four open spots will be filled by Steve Lennon, Tommy Morris, Derek Coulson, and Scott Waites.
The two floor events start on Monday and Tuesday at 1:00 PM German time. Here on Dartsnews.com, we will keep you informed on both days with our live coverage of all developments, results, and highlights.
