Tomorrow the playoffs of the
Premier League Darts will be completed at London's O2 Arena.
Luke Humphries, who lost last year's final to
Luke Littler, will take on Nathan Aspinall in the semifinals. The 30-year-old Englishman starts with great confidence in the final of this Premier League Darts and hopes to realize the 'Triple Crown'.
Humphries finished second in this year's Premier League Darts regular season, eleven points clear of Littler. "The Premier League Darts is perhaps the most difficult tournament to win," he said. "You could win all 16 nights but on the 17th you don't and then you don't win the Premier League," he said to Online Darts.
"The Premier League in that aspect is one of the hardest to win. It's a tough task but I've got a shot at it this year and Luke will be one of the favourites to win the World Matchplay. So my big shot to do it early."
Triple Crown
Additional aspect to these playoffs, both Humphries and Littler can realize the "Triple Crown" (World Darts Championship, World Matchplay and Premier League Darts). Both players have already won two of these three tournaments. For Humphries, the Premier League Darts is still missing from his record, for Littler it is the World Matchplay.
"I'm not trying to rush or trying to beat Luke to it. He will definitely do it in my opinion as Premier League is so tough to win. The World Championship is so tough to win. The World Matchplay is tough to win but when you're a heavy scorer like Luke, good finisher. You will win the World Matchplay guaranteed. When you're in the Premier League, you've got to have that good night and if you don't have that you never win it."
The winner of the semi-final between Humphries and Aspinall will take on the winner of the other semi-final between Littler and Gerwyn Price in the final. For the overall winner of the Premier League Darts, a whopping 275,000 pounds awaits.
