Nathan Aspinall eases past Jonny Clayton with monster 113 average, Ritchie Edhouse defies nine 180's to stun Michael Smith

Three matches to conclude the session at the International Darts Open in Riesa and three stunners with Stephen Bunting, Nathan Aspinall and Ritchie Edhouse finding their way into the Last 16. All with terrific displays.

Bunting was first as he saw off home hope, Michael Unterbuchner who was the glimmer of light for German hopes on the opening day. But T-Rex fell easily to the Masters champion who turned on the style converting back-to-back ton plus checkouts including a 146 checkout to seal the deal. He averaged 101 in the end and will return on Sunday.

It was the display that followed from Nathan Aspinall though that was truly astonishing. He pulped Jonny Clayton 6-2 with an average of 113.14 with three 180's as well as 60% on the doubles and two ton-plus checkouts with a high checkout of 124. A true masterclass from the Stockport ace as he took down 'The Ferret' in a match that was seen as the best of the day.

But magnificent 'Madhouse' also served up a special display as Ritchie Edhouse downed Michael Smith. He defied nine 180's to win a deciding leg thriller recovering from 5-3 down to seal the deal with a 160 checkout. With the evening session to come in a matter of hours, it will be catch your breath time after three epic wins to close out the session in Riesa.
