Netherlands' duo of
Michael van Gerwen joined by his new partner of
Dirk van Duijvenbode proved a good combo as they eased past Denmark's Andreas Toft Jorgensen and Niels Heinsøe 5-1.
They will now face off against Singapore in what is bound to be one of the ties of the second round featuring Paul Lim but it was the 'Green Machine' and 'The Titan' who shone with a 92 average and 71% on doubles while not being at their best.
The Danish pairing started the tie with a 1-0 lead and celebrated as a result but Van Gerwen and Van Duijvenbode soon found their stride.
This coincided with Heinsøe missing a big number and gifting Van Gerwen a break of throw which he took and accompanied with a huge roar.
They continued to find their stride going 4-1 up before sealing the deal with captain Van Gerwen being left double 20 which he took as his first foray with Van Duijvenbode proved fruitful in Jena.
