Luke Littler made history earlier this year by becoming the youngest darts world champion of all time. 'The Nuke' defeated Michael van Gerwen 7-3 in the final at Alexandra Palace. Since that remarkable victory, Littler has kept up the momentum. Last month, he claimed the UK Open title and successfully defended his Belgian Darts Open crown. In the 2025 Premier League Darts, after eight matchdays, he sits comfortably at the top of the standings and appears on track to defend his title from last year.
In recent months, Littler has been consistently posting impressive averages. It’s rare for the 18-year-old Englishman to throw below a 100 average, and 110+ averages have become almost routine for him.
In the Premier League Darts, Littler is making a real impact, already securing victories in four of the eight matchdays. With eight more points than second-place Luke Humphries, he leads the table with a commanding position. Michael van Gerwen, currently third, is trailing by 13 points. The top four players after 16 matchdays will qualify for the play-offs at the O2 Arena in London, where the first-place finisher will face fourth, and second and third will meet in the other semi-final.
At the moment, Littler shows no signs of slowing down, but it seems he may have something new up his sleeve. After winning his eighth matchday on Thursday, he dropped a surprising hint.
When asked in his post-Premier League Darts press conference on Thursday night, if he had been practicing a lot in the past week, he responded: "I've had a little throw... I probably shouldn't say what with, but new darts are coming, so I've had a little throw with them."
Littler has previously mentioned that he doesn't believe he's reached his peak yet. It remains to be seen if these new darts will help him take his game to an even higher level. One thing is clear, though: his competition has been put on notice.
