New record set for Welsh players qualified for PDC World Darts Championship

The evolution of Welsh darts in recent years has been led by Gerwyn Price and Jonny Clayton but while both will be involved at this year's PDC World Darts Championship, they will be joined by four more compatriots.

As per statistician Philipp Wolff, it is a new record and after the number went over four for the first time during the latest edition, five players will be involved after Richie Burnett sealed his return to the Alexandra Palace.

Jim Williams qualified through the Pro Tour, while Robert Owen and Lewy Williams are among the international qualifiers alongside Burnett. A record likely to improve due to the growing state of the game in Wales.
