Nicholson before that tie had already seen off Andy Jenkins in a 5-2 win to send it to this decider; with Evans needing to see off ‘The Asset’ then Mark Webster to claim it.
Against Evans, his opponent kept with him throughout the tie but after four missed darts at doubles, Nicholson would have thought he was on his way at 4-2 but this wasn’t the case as Evans came back.
An 85 checkout on the bullseye and after Nicholson missed four match darts, Evans forced a deciding leg but the former flipped the match again claiming it at the death.
That means going into the final day we have Wessel Nijman on two, David Evans on two and Paul Nicholson on one. Who can claim the week title??
In the midst of all that, Raymond van Barneveld saw off Mark Webster somehow. This was due to it being a poor match between the former World Champions.
RVB got over the line despite only averaging 76 and missing 26 darts at doubles en route in a 5-4 victory.
