Nicholson threw darts in anger after World Cup of Darts final defeat: "One of them ricocheted and hit a cameraman"

Paul Nicholson alongside Simon Whitlock lost out in the 2012 PDC World Cup of Darts final to Adrian Lewis and Phil Taylor as part of the Australia side.

As part of a new podcast looking back on his career with The Darts Show, he revealed the story behind his singles win over Lewis and the subsequent final defeat.

"Adrian (Lewis) was just constantly on me the whole tournament even when we weren't playing each other. Before we played each other in the singles, he was properly going at me backstage and I thought there's only one way to shut you up and that's to beat you," said Nicholson to The Darts Show podcast.

"My darts in my hand I thrust them onto the stage in anger that we lost the final. One of them ricocheted and hit a cameraman."
