Streamed today from the players homes on select betting sites and DartConnect, Nijman was the stand out winning four from four against Raymond van Barneveld (5-1), David Evans (5-4), Paul Nicholson (5-3) and Mark Webster (5-1).
The Dutch youngster who was seen as the outside bet at the start of the day proved to show the prowess that has seen him win Development Tour titles.
Evans as well finished second with his only defeat of the day coming against Nijman, he played three and lost one and also showed his quality.
Raymond van Barneveld was the player that many were looking forward to seeing play in this format after he retired from the sport late last year but he left today without a win in his four games and on -10 leg difference.
Paul Nicholson finished third with two wins and two defeats, while Mark Webster only claimed one win against Raymond van Barneveld to finish in fourth place.
Andy Jenkins will enter the fray tomorrow with the former World Championship semi-finalist set to take the place of Webster; as he hopes for a good debut when the action gets underway at 11am BST for the second day of the Icons of Darts League.
