Nijman wins NDB ranking title immediately on return after match-fixing suspension

Wessel Nijman won the men's tournament at the NDB Ranking in Wijchen on Sunday. For Nijman, it was his first official tournament after a year-long suspension.

Nijman was suspended for five years - two and a half of which were on probation - in 2020 after becoming involved in a match-fixing scandal in an online darts competition. That suspension expired at the end of February.

This allowed Nijman to make his comeback at the NDB Open Rivierenland. He beat the likes of Jeremy van der Winkel (4-0), Salmon Renyaan (4-3), Martijn Dragt (5-1), Dennie Olde Kalter (5-2) and Ryan de Vreede (2-1 in sets) on his way to the title averaging 105 in one of his matches too with many pointing towards 2024 Q-School for the re emergence of the former Development Tour winner.
