The title at the second Players Championship of the season went to Wessel Nijman. The 25-year-old Dutchman edged Welshman Gerwyn Price 8-7 in the final in Hildesheim. The standard was exceptionally high all day across several players, which is reflected in the list of top averages.
For Nijman, it was already the fourth Players Championship title of his career. Nijman, however, does not feature in the day’s top five averages. One player who does is Gerwyn Price. “The Iceman” maintained a sensational level throughout the day.
With averages of 117.12 (in his 6-0 quarterfinal win over Michael van Gerwen), 111.14 (in his 6-4 last-16 victory against Luke Woodhouse) and 107.41 (in the final against Nijman), Price appears no fewer than three times in the top five.
Alongside Price’s trio, Gabriel Clemens also features in the top five. With a 108.18 average in his 6-3 last-32 win over Madars Razma, the German ranks third on the Players Championship 2 top averages list.
