Having comfortably defeated David Cameron 3-1, ninth seed
Danny Noppert believes he can go all the way at the
PDC World Darts Championship. "When you win the UK Open, then why not here."
Despite a late rally from the Canadian, Noppert always looked the more likely to advance to a round three matchup with Alan Soutar. "I was not nervous at all this game," Noppert assesses. "He did not give me a lot of pressure to push me to a high level until the third set, afterwards I played better."
After a fantastic year that has seen Noppert pick up a first major title at the UK Open and enter the top 10 in the world rankings for the first time, the Dutchman is now looking to improve on his relatively poor record at the Ally Pally that has seen him go out at the third round in each of the last three years.
"Of course, I'm not the favourite to take the title here, there are a lot of good players but I've had a good year so far and I'm really happy with the win today," he says. "When you win the UK Open, then why not here, anything is possible."
