Danny Noppert and
Simon Whitlock are the two players who will move through from Group B at the
Grand Slam of Darts in the first two games that were decided by the final group matches.
Whitlock was first and faced off against Christian Perez albeit with qualification not in his hands. He recovered from 2-0 down and a slow start to outscore the Filipino who will return to the big stage next month at the World Championship.
But it was 'The Wizard' who sealed a 5-3 win with a 99 average and six 180's getting in front after making it 2-2 and then pinning double 13 for the victory. He had done his bit but it was down to Noppert and Suljovic.
Suljovic needed to win and Noppert needed to reach a certain number of legs to move through himself and 'The Gentle' could've dared to dream after a real mistake from Noppert who ended up leaving double one before going inside to give Suljovic a 3-2 lead and a break.
But he missed the opportunity for 4-2 and Noppert made it 3-3 to get the third leg he needed and with a fourth at 4-4, Noppert sent Suljovic home before sealing the win on double 10 from 65 and will now face either Gerwyn Price or Dave Chisnall after topping the group and sealing the group winners' bonus.
