Noppert seals third career ProTour title with commanding win over Whitlock in Players Championship 2 Final

Danny Noppert has sealed a third career ProTour title with victory in the second Players Championship tournament of the season 8-3 over Simon Whitlock in Barnsley.

Noppert was one of the top players in terms of money earned in 2022 and despite winning the UK Open was denied a Premier League spot but was one of the only players not to berate the decision and will now look to let his darts do the talking.

He has done so today with a 100 average in seeing off a resurgent Whitlock and taking home £12,000 in prize money joining Ryan Searle who won the first of the season yesterday.

Noppert went 2-0 up early on with an 80 checkout to break. It turned into 3-0 pinning double 10 to hold throw.

Whitlock finally got on the board clattering a dart aimed on double 16 off into double eight to hold at 3-1 down. Noppert missed 106 for a hold and Whitlock who set up 40 from 170 hit double 10 to break back at 3-2.

A 107 checkout though sent Noppert’s charge back on track at 4-2 up throwing for a 5-2 lead which he sealed.

Noppert missed 121 but returned to go two away at 6-3. He went one away and pinned double five to conclude a rout.
