Danny Noppert is into the semi-finals of the 2022 World Matchplay after sealing a thrilling win over his compatriot, Dirk van Duijvenbode and he will face either Gerwyn Price or Jose de Sousa for a spot in the final.
Noppert sealed a 16-11 win in the Double Dutch affair with a 97.4 average and ten 180's to boot as he looks to back up his maiden major triumph at the UK Open earlier this year.
Noppert sealed a break of throw early on against Van Duijvenbode pouncing on five missed darts at doubles. But despite going 2-0 down, Van Duijvenbode halved the deficit slightly with a 132 checkout on the bull.
But that was the only early flourish as Noppert breezed into a 4-1 lead with Van Duijvenbode missing 12 darts at doubles.
On return from the interval, Noppert broke again at 6-3 hitting a second 1`80 and an 86 checkout only for Van Duijvenbode to potentially find his way back in by breaking and followed it up with a hold after Noppert missed 122 on the bull.
Four legs on the spin saw Van Duijvenbode hit the front and at the third interval, he kept that lead at 8-7.
But a 150 checkout saw Noppert regain the lead and was a turning point as he continued to build going in at the next break 11-9 up. Both exchanged breaks before Van Duijvenbode again made it interesting making it 11-12.
But Noppert in a theme of the tie streaked away once more going one away at 15-11 winning the next four legs from 12-11 up to seal the win.
