Danny Noppert has joined Michael van Gerwen so far in anchoring the Dutch hopes at the
World Matchplay in reaching the Quarter-Finals with Dirk van Duijvenbode aiming to join them later on Wednesday evening.
Noppert who wasn't in the conversation for many despite winning the UK Open earlier this year proved his credentials with a thrashing against Daryl Gurney 11-4. He produced four ton plus checkouts, a 102.3 average, five 180's and 61% on the doubles in a statement win.
The only time the match was close was in the early stages as Noppert was 2-1 up on Gurney but from there, it was dominance from 'The Freeze' who stormed into the first interval at 4-1 up.
He didn't let up from there firing in a 114 checkout to break and go 5-1 up. Gurney broke to go 6-3 down and potentially produce a comeback into the tie but that was soon diminished.
Noppert did what Gurney did in the previous game against Gary Anderson in the form of a blind 180 with an 86 checkout on the bull to follow to make it 7-3.
He was at the brink at 9-3 as he smashed in a monster 132 checkout pinning the bull before following it up with a 103 checkout to make it 10-3.
Gurney held to make it 10-4 but that was little resolve as Noppert pinned double 10 to seal it.
