Maik Kuivenhoven has convincingly qualified for the second round at the
Baltic Sea Darts Open. He defeated Euro Tour debutant Christopher Toonders in the first round 6-0.
In the process, Kuivenhoven posted an average of 92 and a finish percentage of 50 percent. Toonders had four chances on the doubles, but missed them all. Kuivenhoven took the first leg with a 78 finish and then broke his opponent with a 16-darter. A 17-darter and a 13-darter made it 4-0.
Toonders had two chances to get on the scoreboard in the fifth leg, but could not hit double 12. Kuivenhoven then threw tops to make it 5-0. The Dutchman then used his fourth matchdart via double 19 to force a duel with former world champion
Rob Cross.
The match between
Sebastian Bialecki and Jose de Sousa was a lot more exciting. De Sousa was ahead 3-1, but Bialecki led 5-4 after nine legs. With an 80 finish, De Sousa forced a final leg. In the final leg, Bialecki missed three matchdarts before De Sousa missed his only matchdart on tops. Bialecki's fourth matchdart after that proved to be a hit.
