Andrew Gilding will be Peter Wright's opponent in the second round of the
Baltic Sea Darts Open. On Friday afternoon, 'Goldfinger' managed to win the duel in the first round against Thibault Tricole comfortably.
It certainly was not a high-class match. Gilding threw an average of 84, versus 83 for Tricole. The latter managed to take advantage of only one of his nine chances on the doubles. He did not succeed until the fifth leg, after which the Frenchman cynically celebrated the achieved success. Gilding then ended the match with a 21-darter.
Franz Roetzsch managed to make up a 2-4 deficit in his match against Haupai Puha. By then winning four legs in a row, he forced a meeting with former junior world champion Josh Rock in the second round.
The match between Moritz Hilger and Matthew Dennant will undoubtedly go into the books as the worst match of the tournament. Both players threw an average of 79 per turn. Euro Tour debutant Hilger won the game 6-2, and will meet compatriot Ricardo Pietreczko in the next round.
