The European Championship is already making headlines before the first dart: As the PDC Europe announced in a press release on Wednesday evening, the previous spectator record of 30,000 tickets sold was already broken one day before the start of the tournament.
33,000 fans are already expected to attend the big Euro Tour season finale in Dortmund's Westfalenhalle. "Darts inspires people all over the world - and Dortmund is a prime example of this," says Werner von Moltke, Managing Director of the PDC Europe. "33,000 tickets sold before the start of the event impressively show how much the sport has arrived in Germany. This development makes us very happy. This makes the European Championship the second largest continuous darts event after the World Championship."

Littler, Humphries lead field

Luke Littler, Luke Humphries among others lead the way in regards to the top names involved in Dortmund with defending champion Ritchie Edhouse not set to return to the tournament after not qualifying.
The local fans can also look forward to a real darts spectacle from a German perspective: with Martin Schindler, Ricardo Pietreczko and Niko Springer, three hopefuls are represented in the field of participants. The Wall, who will challenge England's Dave Chisnall on Thursday evening, will be the first of the trio to start the tournament. Niko Springer will open the Friday evening session in a duel with last year's finalist Jermaine Wattimena, while Ricardo Pietreczko will challenge World Cup champion Josh Rock later in the evening. A real reason to buy tickets.
