Payne fights back to defeat Woodhouse, Huybechts dispels out of sorts Thornton

The third round action is complete at the 2020 UK Open with the fourth round draw set to be completed shortly with the big names set to come into proceedings and it was a brilliant end to the session.
Kim Huybrechts thrashed former champion Robert Thornton in a 6-1 win and despite not playing great himself with an 83 average, it was a lot better than the 75 posted by his opponent as 'The Hurricane' breezes through.
Josh Payne had it a lot more difficult having to reel off five consecutive legs from 4-1 down to defeat Luke Woodhouse 6-4 - as the latter once again is on the receiving end of an unlucky defeat which has been the theme of his year so far.
Also as the action drew to a close on the multi boards, Martin Atkins (Wigan) produced brilliance in the form of a 138 checkout in the deciding leg to defeat Wesley Harms 6-5.

- Is this the start of an attempt to say that he (Littler) is the best ever as he has won most money. Perhaps adjust all prize money earned by allowing for inflation. If Littler gets close too (does not even have to overtake) both MVG’s and Taylor’s Major titles total then he is in the conversation. Indicates to me that the prize money is skewed to much towards the top players, meritocracy must rule but a fair distribution of the money is needed otherwise its only ever about a select few.Mysstree09-01-2025
