PDC European Tour Order of Merit: Martin Schindler new leader as Nathan Aspinall hangs on to final spot

Martin Schindler's title at the Swiss Darts Trophy makes him the new leader in the European Tour Order of Merit in a second title of the season.

'The Wall' recorded his second tournament victory of the season, having already won the International Darts Open earlier this year. Schindler leads the Euro Tour rankings with 101,500 pounds, well ahead of the likes of Dave Chisnall (88,500 pounds) and Luke Littler (82,500 pounds).

Raymond van Barneveld secured participation in the European Championship last weekend. The 57-year-old Dutchman was narrowly on the right side of the qualifying line prior to the Swiss Darts Trophy, but made it to the quarterfinals at the Euro Tour tournament in Basel.

Van Barneveld won in Basel over Joe Cullen (6-2), Ricardo Pietreczko (6-5) and Ross Smith (6-4), before losing in the last eight to eventual tournament winner Martin Schindler (6-4). The five-time world champion rose to 26th place on the Euro Tour Order of Merit, and cannot miss out on participation for the final tournament in Dortmund.

The last qualifying spot is currently held by Nathan Aspinall, who does compete in the Czech Darts Open. So are Callan Rydz and Cameron Menzies, the first two chasers so it is set up for an interesting conclusion. Ryan Searle also moved into the top eight after reaching the final.
